Project Manager - Operations

As a Project Manager, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple projects, overseeing all on-site activities in line with framework requirements. You'll proactively manage risks, identifying potential issues early and implementing timely solutions to ensure safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery. Performance will be monitored to meet standards of productivity, quality, and compliance. You'll lead projects to the highest professional standards, coordinating internal teams and supply chain partners, and managing every stage of the project lifecycle in close collaboration with Avove's clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Monitor delivery and financial performance against the programme, identifying risks early and taking corrective action to maintain budget and timelines.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the programme of work, ensuring all activities align with contract scope and framework requirements.
- Manage project changes using NEC contract mechanisms.
- Produce and update CL31/32 programmes monthly in line with framework timescales.
- Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (Forecast) documents ahead of senior management review.
- Maintain and update the project Risk Register.
- Regularly monitor progress and facilitate collaborative planning sessions to challenge durations and identify opportunities.
- Provide timely supervision, assessment, and coaching to teams and subcontractors to ensure quality and programme outputs are met.
- Promote and uphold Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, ensuring compliance with Avove's Work Together, Safe Together ethos and H&S system (e20), including oversight of temporary works.
- Strong understanding of programme delivery processes and contract scope.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ).
- Ability to engage effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) - training will be provided if not already held.
- Awareness of NEC3/4 contract mechanisms.
- Full, valid UK driving licence - travel within the contract area is required.
- Excellent coaching, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Financial awareness with the ability to manage and work within budgets.
- Skilled in resource prioritisation and adapting to changing environments.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
