At AECOM, we're recruiting for a Project Director:Project Management to join our growing Project Management team in Cork.
About the RoleAECOM is looking for an experienced and ambitious Project Director:Project Management to lead the successful delivery of complex healthcare and education projects across Cork and the wider Munster region.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a professional with a proven track record of delivering major capital projects in the public sector. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage strategic client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and governance.
As Project Director, you will also play a key role in the continued growth of AECOM's Construction Consultancy business, supporting public sector clients in delivering modern healthcare facilities and educational infrastructure that create lasting value for communities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the successful delivery of major healthcare and education capital projects through every stage of the project lifecycle, from business case and planning through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, public sector organisations, design consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.
- Provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight across multiple complex projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and organisational priorities.
- Direct multidisciplinary project teams, fostering effective collaboration across project management, cost management, design, and specialist consultancy disciplines.
- Develop and oversee project execution plans, delivery programmes, budgets, procurement strategies, risk registers, governance frameworks, and client reporting.
- Monitor project performance against key objectives, proactively managing programme, cost, quality, risk, compliance, and stakeholder expectations.
- Lead procurement activities in accordance with Irish public procurement legislation and established forms of contract.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, quality management systems, and AECOM governance standards.
- Mentor, coach, and develop project managers and junior team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.

Here's what we're looking for:
As the successful candidate, you will have experience working across a range of sectors and will possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Degree qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Professional membership of a recognised institution (e.g. Chartered Engineer, Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Builder, or equivalent).
- Significant experience delivering complex capital projects within a construction consultancy environment.
- Proven track record leading large scale healthcare, hospital, education, or public infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of project governance, programme management, procurement, contract administration, and risk management.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects for public sector clients.
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial management capability.
- Outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
