Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Project Director to join our Consulting Rail Design team. This is a hybrid position and with office space in Dublin, we welcome applications across Ireland.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, but we offer a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid, part time and flexible working patterns. What you will be doing

Act as a project management specialist and subject matter expert, providing direction, guidance and supervision as appropriate to project management teams, operational managers, clients and suppliers. Direct the actions of project management teams regardless of office location, project or account, including the multidisciplinary environment and undertake the people manager role when required by the business. The main focus of the role is as an inward facing subject matter expert, providing direction to project management teams and supporting a project management excellence agenda.

Responsibilities include
  • Act as a project management specialist and subject matter expert, providing direction, guidance and supervision as appropriate to project management teams, operational managers, clients and suppliers.
  • Lead and direct the preparation and checking of project management related information that enables Amey Consulting commissions to be delivered whilst satisfying the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme.
  • Maintain responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables.
  • Liaise with client and supplier representatives up to director level, including presenting proposals.
  • Identify opportunities for project management initiatives and sponsor their development.
  • Lead the preparation of bids and the general work winning function, including the role of bid director.
  • Assume the role of people manager when required by the business.
What you will bring to us
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate subject.
  • Fellowship of the Association for Project Management already held or to be gained within six months of commencement in the role.
  • Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status with the Association for Project Management.
  • Apply deep expertise of project management theory and principles to rarely seen situations which require the creation of an outcome from first principles.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of the project management field, with the ability to manage others. Demonstrate a full understanding of the project scope and act as project management lead for both minor and major projects.
  • Be highly experienced with project management software and tools. Show good ability to check work produced by others and be able to validate and approve the use of new tools.
  • Demonstrate high level commercial awareness. Identify opportunities for project scope variations.
  • Show excellent knowledge of suppliers and the services they provide, maintained through regular contact.
  • Be an excellent oral communicator, able to present arguments and ideas very well to peers, more senior colleagues and clients. Deliver internal training workshops to peers and presentations to clients.
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Health, Safety and Welfare, including specific regulations.
  • Demonstrate a very good ability to resolve possible interface clashes and manage interfaces within one's own discipline.
  • Show supervisory and people manager skills. Be capable of directing the actions of project management teams regardless of office location, project or account, including the multidisciplinary environment and undertake the people manager role when required by the business.
