We are looking for an experienced Project Design Manager to lead the multidisciplinary design delivery of major data centre and mission-critical projects.

This is a senior position for someone who can coordinate engineering teams, manage technical risk and ensure complex designs move efficiently from concept through construction and commissioning.

The Role

As Project Design Manager, you will take ownership of design coordination across electrical, mechanical, CSA, security, monitoring and fire-protection disciplines.

You will work closely with engineering teams, clients, consultants, contractors and commercial stakeholders to ensure designs are compliant, buildable, commercially sound and delivered in line with the project programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
• Manage design delivery from early development through construction and commissioning.
• Coordinate electrical, mechanical, CSA, security, monitoring and fire-protection systems.
• Establish design priorities, responsibilities, deliverables and review processes.
• Manage design interfaces, technical risks, change and project constraints.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, statutory requirements and project standards.
• Lead design reviews, coordination meetings and technical workshops.
• Support contractor and consultant appointments, scope development and technical negotiations.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities without compromising safety, quality or performance.
• Work closely with construction, commercial, procurement and commissioning teams.
• Present technical information clearly to clients and senior project stakeholders.
• Support the resolution of complex engineering and constructability issues.

What We're Looking For

• A bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification and experience.
• Strong experience in engineering, design management or technical programme management.
• A successful track record on data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Experience leading large Design & Build or Design-Bid-Build projects.
• Strong understanding of advanced electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of security, monitoring and fire-detection or suppression systems.
• Experience managing cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commercial awareness and confidence supporting contract and scope negotiations.
• Strong knowledge of design and construction processes, terminology and contracts.
• Familiarity with local building regulations and jurisdictional requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with AutoCAD, Revit or Navisworks.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to remain organised and decisive within a fast-paced project environment.
