Overview

OMNIA Training brings together some of the UK's most innovative defence training organisations to transform the British Army's training system. The Programme Controls Manager will work across a high impact, collaborative environment, championing innovation and helping shape the future of military training.

Responsibilities
  • Set objectives and guide the project controls team on approaches that achieve results, explaining and implementing policies, practices and procedures.
  • Provide line management to project controls staff, assigning priorities, validating results, giving guidance, supporting professional development, and onboarding new staff.
  • Lead the creation, maintenance and reporting of detailed, resource loaded schedules supported by Quantifiable Back up Data (QBD) to enable accurate forecasts and performance measurement.
  • Ensure the production of weekly and monthly reports in line with the programme and business reporting calendar, detailing progress, actuals, forecasts and variances in cooperation with finance, programme managers and cost account managers.
  • Develop and maintain a high quality, compliant Master Schedule for each contract element, monitor and report progress, and reschedule or re phase tasks as required.
  • Represent the Programme Controls role at EAC reviews, providing schedule derived data to support the EAC SOX report.
  • Recruit, assign and prioritise workload for scheduling and controls resources to meet business demands.
  • Act as the primary interface for Programme Controls strategy and services, building relationships with key stakeholders within the Omnia Training Organisation and the RUK EPG.
  • Support functional initiatives as a senior member of the EPG Programme Controls Leadership Team, ensuring career development, training and new assignment opportunities for the controls team.
  • Undertake ad hoc duties and delegate responsibilities as required by the Head of EPG.
Qualifications - Required Skills
  • Expert knowledge of MS Project and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI).
  • Experience as a Subject Matter Expert in a Project Controls environment with knowledge of Planning and Scheduling Excellence and Generally Accepted Principles of Scheduling.
  • Self motivated, process oriented, resilient, able to operate under pressure and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Strong team building ability, motivating and leading diverse project teams and stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Ability to support and guide Programme Managers and their teams, ensuring programmes meet Raytheon standard practices and processes.
  • Commercial and business awareness in a complex project environment.
  • Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Eligible for or holder of current SC security clearance (RSL will sponsor as required).
Desired Skills
  • Experience managing complex programmes in partnership arrangements with integration partners.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Risk & Opportunity Management Processes.
  • Experience within the Defence Industry.
  • Relevant Project Controls professional qualifications.
  • Experience operating in joint or matrixed teams.
  • Ability to communicate across military and industry partners.
  • Focus on outcomes, delivery and operational excellence.
