CONTRACT Term time only HOURS 36.25 hours per week SALARY Starting at Scale Point 19: £36,564, with annual progression to Scale Point 23: £41,019 (pro rata) START DATE As soon as possible Make a real difference to students' lives We are looking for a motivated and approachable Progress Coach to join our dedicated pastoral team. You will support a cohort of students throughout their sixth form journey, combining engaging group tutorials with purposeful one to one coaching, progress monitoring and targeted pastoral intervention. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who can build trusting relationships, respond calmly to challenge and help young people develop the confidence, independence and skills they need to succeed academically, personally and professionally.
What you'll do- Provide high quality one to one coaching and pastoral support to a cohort of students.
- Plan and deliver engaging tutorial sessions that support students' academic, personal and professional development.
- Monitor attendance, progress, retention and achievement data, setting targets and coordinating timely interventions.
- Identify barriers to learning and work with students, parents and carers, curriculum colleagues, the safeguarding team and external agencies to address them.
- Support students with study skills, English and maths, revision, time management, mental health and wellbeing, and progression planning.
- Guide applications for university, apprenticeships, training and employment, including references and transition support.
- Contribute to learner voice, student leadership, cross college events, admissions interviews, induction and results services.
- Manage student conduct and behaviour in line with College policies, using a fair, consistent and supportive approach.
- Experience of working one to one with young people in an educational setting.
- Experience of supporting young people with pastoral, educational, emotional or mental health needs.
- A sound understanding of the issues that can affect year olds' learning, wellbeing and progress.
- The ability to motivate students, set meaningful targets and review progress effectively.
- A good standard of education, to degree level or equivalent, with particular emphasis on English and maths.
- A flexible, collaborative and non judgemental approach, with strong listening and communication skills.
Relevant qualifications or experience in youth work, teaching, mentoring, counselling, coaching or safeguarding would be an advantage.
