Job Description
Overview

Bristol City Council are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Programme Engineer (FRA Remedial Works) to join our Housing Delivery team. You'll play a key role in identifying, organising, and managing remedial works from Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) reports, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and delivering high-quality outcomes across our housing stock.

Location and setup

Location: Bristol City Council

Set-up: Hybrid

Rate: £33.21/hour via umbrella inside IR35

Duration: Initial 3 months, potential extension

Hours: Full-time position (37-hours)

Responsibilities
  • Identify and coordinate remedial works from FRA reports, consulting with delivery teams to progress actions across dwellings, buildings, and land
  • Own and manage all aspects of assigned programmes or projects - from planning and delivery to completion - ensuring time, cost, and quality objectives are met
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys, and condition reports to assess fire safety measures and specify required works
  • Oversee contractor and in-house performance, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, CDM, and FRRO responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate reporting, budget monitoring, and asset database updates to ensure effective programme management and value for money
Requirements
  • Proven experience delivering fire safety or remedial works programmes within housing, construction, or building maintenance environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of FRA processes, fire safety regulations, alarm systems, and relevant building legislation
  • Experience developing design drawings, specifications, schedules of rates, and scope of works for contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and non-technical staff
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2) and confident in budget control, reporting, and quality assurance
