Programme Advisor, Socio-Economic Disadvantage

Bring strategic insight and expertise to how we help hospices improve their support for people facing financial hardship at the end of life.

  • Contract type: Fixed-term (three years, 1 January 2026 - 31 December 2028)
  • Working hours: Part time, 2 days (14 hours) per week

Salary: £22,000 per annum based on 2 days/14 hours per week (FTE: £55,000 per annum)

Hybrid work culture - you may work remotely for the majority of the time but are expected to come into the London office at least one day per month when most of the team is present.

We offer 25 days pro rata in the first year, increasing to 27.5 days pro rata in the second year and 30 days pro rata in the third year. The role includes a matched pension scheme up to 7% of salary and support for staff with caring responsibilities, fostering a family friendly culture.

Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic direction and thought leadership to ensure people experiencing socio economic disadvantage can access high quality hospice care when they need it.
  • Use evidence and research based approaches to address health inequity at scale and work at a system level to transform hospice practice.
  • Collaborate with teams across Hospice UK to collect data and evidence to inform policy work in this area and help transform hospice practice.
  • Design and deliver evidence based programmes, projects and events that help hospices provide the best care in their communities.
Qualifications
  • Sound technical knowledge of the relationship between socio economic deprivation and health outcomes.
  • Experience working on projects that use evidence and research based approaches to address health inequity at scale.
  • Strong health equity expertise from palliative care or another speciality is preferred.
  • Right to live and work in the UK required.
