Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a Programme Administrator to join the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on a full-time, permanent basis this Autumn 2026.
As a Programme Administrator, joining the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, you will collaborate closely with academic staff and professional services teams.
This is a permanent, full-time (35 hours a week) post for £31,234 rising to £34,827 per year, with two days a week based on our campus in Bloomsbury, London.
As Programme Administrator, you will take on a variety of key responsibilities including:
- Supporting the delivery programmes of study, dealing effectively with college processes, systems and procedures.
- Addressing student queries and concerns sympathetically and effectively, in all cases, following collegepolicies and procedures to ensure a consistent and high-quality student experience.
- Actively supporting student success and wellbeing, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need.
- Providing administrative support and supporting Faculty activities.
To be successful, you will:
- Be flexible and able to work independently and as part of a team on a variety of projects, using strong organisational skills.
- Possess excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and have a solid background in administration, ideally within an educational setting.
- Show a demonstrated ability to prioritise competing demands effectively, ensuring service levels are consistently met
- Demonstrate a supportive and empathetic approach to student needs, while ensuring decisions and actions remain aligned with college policies and regulatory requirements.
- Be proficient in using a variety of electronic systems (e.g. Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SITS student records, Moodle etc), although training will be provided.

Salary and benefits£31,234 rising to £34,827 per year, Grade 4 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.
