Professional Services Consultant - UK

Overview

This position is for a Professional Services Consultant who is to be based out of Europe (ideally in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, or the UK) and will work remotely. In This Role, You Will

• Be responsible for the overall post-sales success of a customer and will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in multiple areas including networking, messaging, and middleware technologies. You will develop scripts to compare configurations or automate routine tasks and write integration code in Java or C#. Significant work will also involve assisting customers in monitoring and managing their deployed Solace products, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and responding to alerts.
• Travel occasionally based on customer needs, sometimes globally.
• Develop best practices documents or other customer-facing documents to facilitate knowledge transfer and sharing. Documentation and communication skills must be exceptional, and the ability to manage customer expectations is essential. PSG resources are the face of Solace to the customer as they are generally with the customer for long periods of time, which adds importance to the need for excellent communication skills.
• Work autonomously and with minimal direction. Our customers expect our services team to be professional and capable of delivering solutions with little to no guidance; they look to us to be leaders. Our Professional Services Group is made up of experienced consultants with the attitude of being team players, willing to dig in and do whatever is necessary to make the customer successful.
• Be comfortable installing hardware in a data centre.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Education - Undergraduate degree, ideally in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree; Masters in Science, Business, or Engineering is an asset.
• 5+ years of experience in application development, integration or systems.
• Messaging Middleware / Integration - Understanding of the application middleware space. Technical knowledge of messaging products such as IBM MQ, TIBCO EMS/RV/BW and/or Open Source messaging such as Kafka, Rabbit, ActiveMQ, etc., would be beneficial. An understanding of SOA and JMS is essential and working knowledge of MQTT, AMQP, REST, and/or JavaScript would be assets.
• Enterprise Integration Patterns and Solution Architecture - Any experience would be an asset. Knowledge of digital patterns, application lifecycle management, continuous integration.
• Operations Support - Experience providing application, hardware, and/or Cloud platform support is desired. Some experience troubleshooting technical issues, including application deadlock, thread issues, and configuration errors, is expected. Beneficial to have experience configuring alerts and thresholds for monitoring. Experience in a role responsible for Solace hardware appliance operations would be a plus.
• Application development - Experience developing, integrating, and troubleshooting Java and/or C/C++/C# code is required. Any development experience using sockets, messaging APIs, multithreaded and distributed applications would be a plus.
• PaaS - Working experience with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, PaaS platforms.
• Networking - Good knowledge of network layers and topologies, understanding of routers, switches, gateways, and other networking gear, and how they impact performance. Ability to understand throughput and latency, and explain these concepts and how they impact messaging middleware performance is desired.
• Fluency in English and Italian is mandatory to support effective communication across our EMEA operations.
