Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Support production teams by interrogating and analysing train data systems (EMS, Rtd, RCM, OTMR) to deliver first time fixes.
  • Capture and analyse defects as they are reported, helping to reduce incidents arising from maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with Technical Services and the Performance Team to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions, including briefings, process improvements and best practices.
  • Develop fault finding guides and support pre production/project activities.
  • Coach and mentor engineers in advanced fault finding techniques during routine maintenance and when investigating repeat or complex defects.
  • Use train data proactively to identify problem units before in service failure, raise work reports and define scopes of work where required.
  • Support the rectification of technically challenging faults, monitoring unit performance for up to six days post repair to ensure fault free operation.
  • Provide technical support on issues affecting delivery, including procedural clarification, component identification and maintenance best practice.
Qualifications
  • Experience of rolling stock maintenance, planned maintenance processes and rail vehicle system repair.
  • Technical knowledge of Southern Railway rolling stock fleets (preferred).
  • Good understanding of train management and mainframe systems, including EMS, TRUST and hybrid systems such as GENIUS and RAVERS (preferred).
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications (Windows, Word, Excel).
  • HNC/HND qualification in an Electrical Engineering discipline (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions under pressure.
  • Self motivated, able to meet tight deadlines when required.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis skills, including interpretation of electrical and software schematics.
  • Strong interest in coaching, mentoring and developing others.
  • All successful candidates must undertake and pass a full safety critical medical before formal offer.
