Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Product Engineer with a startup mindset to oversee development and scale-up production of a near-eye display. The main objective is to develop a second generation of the product.

What you will do

Product Development & Design

• Work with optical designers, mechanical and electrical engineers to develop functional and manufacturable designs for near-eye display products including selecting appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes
• Balance performance, reliability, and cost to ensure the products are scalable and financially viable
• Work closely with technical teams, sales and business development teams to refine the product specifications in order to meet client's requirements

Manufacturing & Supply Chain Management

• Work closely with the manufacturing team and mechanical engineer to fulfil DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles
• Work with contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure the product and its components meet specifications and is optimised for mass production
• Establish and manage a robust supply chain for key materials and components for the near-eye display product

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Develop and execute in-house test plans to ensure the product meets desired technical specifications
• Identify and manage applicable industry certifications to make sure that the product follows all relevant reliability, safety, and regulatory standards

Continuous Product Improvement

• Analyse field data and customer feedback to identify areas for product improvement
• Use the performance feedback to iterate on product designs to enhance performance, durability, and user experience

Product Documentation and Knowledge Transfer

• Create and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and manufacturing guidelines
• Define and supervise implementation of training protocols for manufacturing and assembly teams on new products and processes

What technical skills you have

Product Design

• Experience in mechanical engineering: tolerancing, heat management, mechanical and environmental stress
• Knowledge of optics, electronics and material science for consumer devices

DFM

• Experience with scalable manufacturing processes
• Experience with DFM Tools: Valor NPI, DFMPro to optimize designs for manufacturability

QA & Compliance

• Experience with technical performance testing in large-scale production
• Experience with environmental testing (environmental chambers, vibration setups)
• Experience with consumer devices certifications (FCC, CE, UL, RoHS, etc.)

Supply Chain

• Experience in product lifecycle management
• Experience in bill of materials management
• Experience in working with supplier directories for component sourcing
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and OEMs

What education you have

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or Industrial design and 3+ years of experience in product design and management, preferably in displays, consumer electronics or AR/VR hardware.
• Professional working level of English
