Job Description
The Role

The Product & Sourcing Director will lead the product and sourcing agenda for Charles Tyrwhitt, working hand in glove with Merchandising, Brand and Marketing to build ranges that feel unmistakably CT: great quality, commercially sharp, properly made and easy for our customers to buy and wear.

This role needs someone who can balance product instinct with trading reality; protecting the core shirt and menswear offer we are famous for, while spotting the right opportunities to move the range forward. They will set the direction for Buying, Technical and Sourcing, ensuring we deliver brilliant product, strong margins, reliable supply and long-term supplier partnerships.

What You Will Be Doing
Buying & Product Strategy

  • Work closely with Merchandising to shape the product strategy, making sure ranges are right for the CT customer, brand positioning and financial plan

  • Bring fresh thinking on fabric, fit, finish and category opportunities, while staying grounded in what our customers come to us for

  • Own range architecture, option planning and pricing choices with Merchandising, keeping the balance between core continuity and newness

  • Partner with Brand, Marketing and Creative so launches have a clear story and customers understand why the product matters

  • Lead range sign-off with a clear view of fashion risk, CT's core proposition, commercial upside and operational deliverability

Sourcing & Supply Chain Leadership

  • Set the sourcing strategy for CT product, making sure we have the right supplier base for quality, speed, value and resilience

  • Build long term supplier relationships where we are clear on expectations and fair in how we work together

  • Manage the supplier base across key countries of origin, ensuring the right balance of capability, capacity and risk

  • Lead negotiation on costs, MOQs, lead times, and capacity planning

  • Improve speed to market, flexibility and cost efficiency without cutting corners on product quality

  • Ensure ethical sourcing, compliance, and sustainability standards are met and audited

Commercial & Financial Ownership

  • Share ownership of category performance, including sales, intake margin and customer response

  • Protect gross margin while managing cost inflation, FX pressure and the realities of global sourcing

  • Partner with Merchandising on forecasting, stock health, and exit strategies

  • Use trading data, customer insight and product performance to adjust the range and buy in season where needed

Sustainability & Governance

  • Champion responsible sourcing, traceability and better material choices in a way that is practical, credible and right for CT

  • Ensure compliance with UK and international trade, import/export, and ethical standards

  • Support the long term supplier and ESG agenda, making sure progress is meaningful rather than just good deck filler

What we are looking for

  • Senior experience in menswear product, buying and/or sourcing in a similar role

  • Someone who understands shirts, tailoring and smart casual menswear - not just product in the abstract

  • Strong commercial judgement: knows what will sell, what will make money and what is worth taking a punt on

  • Good grip of factories, costs, lead times, quality and supplier relationships

  • Used to working closely with Merchandising, Brand and Marketing, rather than operating in a silo

  • Able to lead experienced Buying, Technical and Sourcing teams with clarity, pace and common sense

  • Own-brand retail experience, ideally with a strong D2C/customer lens

  • Experience across UK, US and/or European markets

  • A practical view on responsible sourcing and better materials - not just policy language

  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, multi-seasonal retail business where the plan can change because the customer has spoken

What You Can Expect From Us

  • Competitive salary and excellent bonus scheme

  • An entrepreneurial environment where you'll be encouraged to try things and make changes to drive the business forward

  • You'll have access to Staff Discount from your 1st day, not just at CT but also from The White Company!

  • Our hybrid working policy means we work from the office 3-4 days per week (14 days onsite across a 4 week period, and Monday's are our set days in the office)

  • We are proud to go about our business in the right way and partner with many charities and sustainability partners - 'giving something back' is an important part of our ethos

  • At HQ we are serious about having fun. Our Christmas and summer parties are the stuff of legend and our CT Social Team ensure there is always something exciting to get involved in)

Who We Are

Once upon a shirt, Nicholas Charles Tyrwhitt Wheeler (whilst studying Geography at Bristol University - we might add) had the notion that he could make a better shirt at better value than anyone else in the world! He believed that all men; no matter their shape or size, where they may be in the world or indeed their budget; should be able to own a Jermyn Street quality shirt. A proper shirt. A CT shirt. That was over 3 decades ago and whilst Charles Tyrwhitt (it rhymes with spirit by the way) is still famous for proper shirts, these days we are about so much more than collars and cuffs. Our purpose is to "make it easy for men to dress well". We take care of a chap's entire wardrobe, providing stylish solutions for every occasion. We make sure he gets what he wants, when and how he wants it.

'I am Proud and Free to be me!'

When it comes to our people, we really do "Give a shirt".

Tyrwhitteers (our people) are a diverse, passionate and entrepreneurial bunch. We enjoy a fun, engaging and rewarding culture, where everyone is empowered by our 3 BE-liefs which are; "BE the BOSS", "BE the CUSTOMER" and "BE the BEST".
