As a Process Safety Engineer in our Net Zero Division, you'll be part of a talented team designing complex new schemes to protect our clients' assets. You'll deliver solutions that benefit major organizations and improve thousands of lives every day, and you'll be able to say, 'I helped to make this happen'.

Your purpose:
  • You will support the delivery of numerous projects within the Net Zero practice, either in-house or via secondment.
  • The safety engineering role will be dynamic, detail-oriented, and cover every stage of a project lifecycle from feasibility to commissioning.
  • Our clients operate within highly regulated environments, and you will be integral to multidisciplinary teams delivering complex, unique, and interesting projects.
What you can bring?
  • Excellent relationship-building skills within AtkinsRéalis and with clients, providing proactive support within projects.
  • High attention to detail to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Experience with consequence modelling software for Major Accident Hazard scenarios.
  • Favourable qualities include supporting hazard workshops (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID), knowledge of legislative requirements like COMAH & DSEAR, ability to prepare proposals, coordinate bids, and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.

Examples of work involved:

  • Consequence modelling of Major Accident Hazard scenarios and QRAs.
  • Hazardous Area Classification & DSEAR assessments.
  • Preparing HSE study reports aligned with client standards and project needs.
  • Developing philosophy documents or detailed calculations depending on project phase.
  • Conducting HAZOP and LOPA workshops, including preparing Terms of Reference.

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • University degree in science, engineering, or equivalent experience and qualification.
  • Experience in process and energy-related industries.
  • Ability to provide customer-focused service.
  • Motivated to meet delivery and cost targets without compromising quality.
