Process Engineering Lead

Blackfield Associates are currently partnered with a global pharmaceutical manufacturer to support their search for a Process Engineering Lead to join their project based in Belgium on an initial 12-month contract.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead process engineering for new facility from design through qualification
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, and equipment specifications
• Oversee integration of key unit operations (e.g., reactors, crystallizers, centrifuges, spray dryers)
• Ensure compliance with GMP standards and process safety, including solvent and nitrogen handling
• Collaborate with automation (DeltaV), CQV, and construction teams for full system integration
• Support FATs/SATs, vendor coordination, and process risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP)
• Drive project schedule and team deliverables; provide leadership and mentoring

Experience Needed:

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
• Sufficient years of pharmaceutical process engineering experience
• Strong background in solvent-based systems, spray drying, and inert atmospheres
• Experience with GMP compliance, automation (preferably DeltaV), and capital projects
• Proven leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills
• Fluent in English; Dutch preferred
