Probation Service Officer - Electronic Monitoring - South Central

The Probation Services Officer (PSO) role within the South Central Probation Electronic Monitoring team supports electronic monitoring (EM) initiatives across the UK. You will work alongside probation practitioners to improve EM knowledge, highlight opportunities for EM use in risk management and ensure high quality, timely enforcement. The role is high volume, fast moving, requiring flexibility, prioritisation and the ability to respond to competing demands.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor EM orders from sentence or release until completion.
- Identify and promote effective use of EM within risk management frameworks.
- Provide advice and guidance to probation practitioners on licence completion and other EM related matters.
- Support eligibility determinations for EM.
- Analyse data related to EM implementation and outcomes.
We are looking for people who are empathetic, patient, resilient and organised. A formal degree is not required; we value personal qualities and relevant experience:
- Experience working with individuals who have social or personal difficulties.
- Strong written communication skills - you will be required to produce accurate reports to tight deadlines.
- Good problem solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support offenders and collaborate with agencies across the justice system.
Starting salary: £26,475.
Annual progression is available through the Competency Based Framework (CBF) and Civil Service pay guidance. New entrants are expected to join on the minimum of the pay band.
Working ArrangementsHybrid working is available where business needs allow. Some roles may not be suitable for hybrid arrangements. Working hours are a standard 37 hours per week. Part time and flexible arrangements are considered where they meet the demands of the role.
