Job Description

Exciting Opportunity - Privacy Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Privacy Officer to join a well-established international organisation. Reporting to the Group Privacy Officer / Data Protection Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing the organisation's global privacy programme, ensuring continued compliance with UK and international data protection legislation.

This position offers the chance to work across a diverse and complex international business, partnering with stakeholders at all levels to embed privacy best practice, manage compliance initiatives, and support strategic data protection projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of data protection initiatives across the organisation.
  • Conduct and manage Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and appropriately mitigated.
  • Maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) in accordance with GDPR requirements.
  • Assist in the investigation and management of privacy incidents, including escalation of potential data breaches where necessary.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with data protection policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support the management of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and other data subject rights requests.
  • Draft responses to individuals exercising their privacy rights.
  • Partner with business functions and project teams to provide privacy advice and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to privacy awareness campaigns and mandatory training programmes.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of privacy management software and tools.
  • Assist with international data transfer compliance and related documentation requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve privacy processes and support ongoing compliance reporting.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong knowledge of UK, European, and international privacy and data protection laws.
  • Experience working within a privacy, compliance, legal, risk, or governance environment.
  • Experience conducting DPIAs and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across a business.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Professional privacy qualifications such as CIPP/E or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting privacy programmes within a complex, multinational organisation.
  • Experience investigating data incidents and implementing remediation actions.
  • Knowledge of privacy management systems and compliance technologies.
  • Understanding of international data transfer requirements and associated risk assessments.
