About the business unit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation, and transmission & distribution networks. We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle-from concept and design to construction, operations, decommissioning, or repowering, supporting the energy transition globally.

About the role

Our Energy Networks team within the Energy unit is looking for a Principal Project Manager to lead energy infrastructure design and advisory projects, supporting clients in decarbonisation efforts across the UK and Europe. This role offers the opportunity to develop your career in a supportive environment, working on impactful energy transition projects that promote environmental sustainability and carbon reduction. It also involves enhancing our project management capabilities and service delivery initiatives.

Your key responsibilities will include

  1. Deliver Project Management for complex transmission & distribution projects, including feasibility, FEED, and detailed design.
  2. Ensure project scope is delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client representatives and internal stakeholders.
  4. Establish effective communication across multidisciplinary project teams.
  5. Lead problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  6. Manage internal and external commercial aspects under contractual agreements.
  7. Control project risks to the business and client.
  8. Manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

Candidate specification

  • Relevant engineering or project management degree or equivalent experience in energy sector project management.
  • Proven success in delivering Transmission or Distribution design projects.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contracts, preferably NEC.
  • Excellent communication skills and decision-making ability.
  • Knowledge of change, risk, schedule, and cost management.
  • Experience with electrical infrastructure projects and CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

Preferred but not essential

  • Experience within Transmission and Distribution sector.
  • Experience across all project lifecycle stages.
  • Relevant project management qualifications (e.g., PMQ, Prince 2).
