About the roleYou will be required to operate in a technical capacity providing high-quality fire safety consultancy support to our clients. Managerial and leadership elements will be required where the opportunity arises to manage and assist in growing the teams. Within this role, you will continually develop and improve as an engineer through regular CPD and training, and will provide technical support to the team, along with helping other engineers gain skills and increase their knowledge. As part of your development, you will be expected to be actively working towards chartership.
You will provide consultancy support to our clients, along with providing technical support to the team and helping other engineers gain skills and increase their knowledge. This role will require you to develop our commercial interests by generating follow-on work from current clients and/or bringing in new clients, quoting for work accurately, and understanding the financial elements.
A key element of the role will be to manage projects, clients, other consultants, invoicing effectively, and to continue to support the industry we operate in, and to develop recognition outside of our business as a fire safety expert through engagement with different industry bodies or committees.
Responsibilities- Maintain high levels of quality in all fire engineering areas.
- Help provide arbitration on issues arising in a manner likely to sustain a positive working environment.
- Actively working towards chartership with expected timings to be discussed and agreed upon within the Personal Growth Plan (PGP).
- Maintain your development as an engineer and industry professional and as an individual.
- Keep up to date with new technologies and innovations in fire engineering and brief the team where relevant.
- Be fully conversant with all relevant legislation and recommend/ensure procedures are updated accordingly.
- Attend and make positive contributions to meetings.
- In collaboration with Directors, provide analysis of workload within Ashton Fire and allocate as appropriate.
- Give encouragement, support, supervision (as appropriate), training, and guidance to the rest of the team.
- Have a clear track record of effectively line managing a team or multiple individuals. This covers all aspects of managing, maintaining, and growing a team including financial responsibility and accountability for all team members.
- Be responsible for the technical output of the team and ensure that a best practice, high quality, and ethically responsible approach is taken for all deliverables.
- Identify and develop business opportunities and market the service offered within the organisation.
- Assist the Directors in providing short-, medium- and long-term projections to ensure we respond to changing markets and client requirements.
- Ensure the application of all Company policies, i.e. Equal Opportunities, Grievances, etc., and deal with any deviations or report to the Directors. In association with the Directors, assist with the development and implementation of policy in respect of Ashton Fire.
- Contribute to the development of the wider fire safety community through contributions to committees, conferences, work exchanges, etc.
- Ensure the company's Quality Procedures, service levels, and contractual requirements are being met.
- Communicate effectively (verbally, writing and electronically) to meet the job purpose.
- Maintain a positive team environment to promote the overall interests of the company without regard to sectional or divisional boundaries.
- Ensure that when entering site, all Health and Safety regulations are strictly complied with, and that all protective/safety equipment is fully utilised.
- Operate within the Ashton Fires terms and conditions, policies, and quality assurance system.
- Undertake other duties, within the competence of the post holder, as may be reasonably required from time to time.
