Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland's largest Irish owned consultants with centres of excellence in Civil Infrastructure, Waste & Resource Management and Renewables. FT provides design and contract management services for the construction of infrastructure projects such as roads, greenways, bridgeworks, rail, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, drainage, water and wastewater treatment facilities, airports, tunnels and gas pipelines.

Position Overview

FT is seeking to recruit a Principal Engineer (Water) to join our Sustainable Infrastructure team in Cork, Carlow or Dublin Offices.

The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer, or be in the process of achieving Chartered status, and be experienced in the delivery of drainage networks for highway, active travel and/or greenway and urban development projects through the planning and design phases.

The successful candidate will have the ability to directly manage clients and stakeholders, and coordinate with multi disciplinary designers on infrastructure projects.

They will lead the delivery on a number of infrastructure, urban development and renewable energy projects.

Candidates should have at least 12 years of experience.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of drainage designs for infrastructure projects including highways, active travel, greenway, renewable energy and urban development projects.
  • Design drainage networks, ponds, attenuation and SuDs.
  • Design potable water and wastewater networks and pump stations.
  • Lead the hydrological and flood risk assessment for various sites.
  • Prepare technical reports and designs to support hydrology and drainage design and environmental impact assessments.
  • Use modelling software such as InfoDrainage, Micro Drainage, Causeway Flow and/or Autodesk Storm and Sewer.
  • Plan and manage CAD documentation, working closely with CAD Technicians.
  • Collaborate closely with other Engineers, Ecologists and Scientists within the Company.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff within the Infrastructure sector.
  • Prepare technical reports, tenders and proposal documents.
  • Attend onsite meetings with clients and other professionals.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within the agreed timescales, quality and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 12 years of post graduate experience in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or in the process of achieving Chartered status.
  • Experience in the design of highway drainage systems including SuDs, with design of Nature Based Solutions a plus.
  • Experience in potable water and wastewater networks and pump stations a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.
  • Working knowledge of civil design software.
  • Experience working in a Consulting Engineering or similar company.
  • Excellent communication, management, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Experience coordinating with technical specialists and engineers.
  • Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Experience organising and delivering complex tasks involving multiple parties within a short timeframe.
  • Ability to adopt and work with new procedures and systems quickly.
  • Prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings.
  • Full Driver's Licence.
