Job Description
Overview

THERAPEUTIC & EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SERVICE (TESS)

GR6 £52,431.00 to £64,811.00: (with market supplement) up to £72,311.00 (depending on experience) (pro-rata)

Principal Clinical Psychologist (12 months Maternity Cover) 21.9hrs

Responsibilities
  • Undertake a broad range of duties including specialist assessment, developing shared formulations in complex presentations, delivering therapeutic interventions (individual, dyadic, family and/or in groups), consultation, teaching and training, liaison with partner agencies as well as undertaking supervision, service development, service evaluation and research where appropriate.
  • Lead clinical activities related to Foundations for Attachment and Therapeutic Parenting programmes, provide DDP informed reflective practice groups for professionals, and maintain a caseload of dyadic work.
  • Join a friendly, supportive, multidisciplinary team and work with approaches such as DDP, CBT, DBT, and other models, in line with best available evidence and innovative practice.
  • Collaborate with Birmingham Children's Trust and partner services to ensure needs of care experienced children and young people are met.
About the Service

TESS is a well-resourced and growing service that provides a wide range of support services to children and young people (up to age 25yrs) open to Birmingham Children's Trust, their parents/carers and their professional network. We work in partnership with local mental health, education and community-based services to ensure support is appropriate to meet need.

We are a multi-disciplinary team including clinical psychology, systemic family therapy, play therapy, and other therapeutic social workers. A wide range of approaches and models are utilised; evidence-informed, innovative and creative practice is encouraged.

Requirements and Environment

The population can present with a wide range of needs resulting from abuse, neglect, attachment disruption, separation, loss, marginalisation, disadvantage and social isolation. Presenting needs can include emotional, behavioural and relationship difficulties, mental health issues, neurodevelopmental differences and learning or executive functioning difficulties. The work can be challenging but rewarding. The post is based in Birmingham; you should reside within a suitable commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not provided.

If you are a team player who is passionate and experienced in delivering services for care experienced children and young people, we would love to hear from you. TESS will provide you with access to training, regular clinical, professional and management supervision, and ongoing support. You will also have opportunities to link with other psychologists across the Trust for peer support.
