Overview

NHS GG&CGG Older People's Psychology Service (OPPS) advertises a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist role across Glasgow City Older People's Community Mental Health Teams (OP-CMHTs). This is a peripatetic post with input based across teams in Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). Input will be determined based on clinical need, with locations in the South, North West or North East of Glasgow City.

Responsibilities

The post holder will:

• Be a valued member of a Multidisciplinary mental health team comprising Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Health and Business support colleagues, with established Clinical Psychology input in each team.
• Enhance the existing resource to deliver highly specialist psychological therapies care and neuropsychological assessment in a timely and efficient manner.
• Support Glasgow City HSCP Acute Hospital Liaison MDT staff to recognise and respond to the psychological needs of Older People during hospital admission. Input will be provided as consultation or 1-1 psychological intervention post discharge.
• Contribute to service development, audits and research priorities; engage in opportunities to develop staff within the Older People's Psychology Service.
• Provide a specialised clinical psychology service to develop and deliver psychological interventions and therapies for Older People across all sectors of care; offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other carers; work autonomously within professional guidelines and the team's policies and procedures.
• Work within the NHS GG&C Older People's Psychology Service (OPPS) framework, participating in community mental health teams for Older People and related service groups (including inpatient psychology, care home liaison, and widening access to evidence-based interventions).
• Provide clinical psychology input across the service area and at different bases as required.
• Take part in professional and operational management within OPPS and the Psychology Directorate; report to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Glasgow City HSCP.
