This is a fantastic opportunity to join my client, an innovative, industry leading Multidisciplinary Consultancy looking to expand their geographical reach by establishing a brand new office location in Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to an array of exciting projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are seeking a driven, experienced Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design who is willing to take on a diverse array of challenging projects. You will lead a newly established team of design professionals, based in the beautiful, historical Scottish Capital City of Edinburgh.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer

• Leading a number of exciting engineering developments in a design capacity


• Managing the day to day running of engineering projects, including aspects such as budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and delivery/implementation


• Providing support and mentorship to colleagues throughout their careers, focusing on encouraging Continuing Professional Development (CPD)


• Managing clients and stakeholders across the public and private sectors


• Preparing, checking, amending, and submitting various technical documents, including reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and method statements


• Proactively enforcing company policies, procedures, and best practice


• Upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times


• Contributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.

Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer

• A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering


• Hold Chartered Status with a relevant, recognised Professional Body


• Extensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK based consultancy setting


• Considerable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly highways and drainage), housing developments, and energy projects


• Experience of drainage network modelling and earthworks design


• Proficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and similar)


• Demonstrable experience of writing and amending a variety of reports for submission


• Prior experience of leading both projects and people within the sector


• Considerable experience of managing client and stakeholder relations


• Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills


• Hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer

• Hold a Master's Degree (or higher qualification) in Civil Engineering


• Prior experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments


• Some experience of preparing Transport Assessments


• Experience of working in a public facing role
