The role of the LRACCS Compliance team is to help BT conduct its business in full compliance with all applicable regulations, as well as internal codes of conduct, policies, standards and procedures.
We enable the business to create and maintain great customer outcomes by providing unparalleled risk, compliance, and assurance expertise.

This is a leadership role with strategic and operational responsibilities in one of the largest organisations in the country. The postholder will lead a compliance team and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the compliance framework across the organisation. As a member of the Compliance Director's leadership team, they will provide expert insight, drive high-impact initiatives, and influence decision-making at the most senior levels.

The individual will be the foremost authority in their area of compliance, working closely with senior leadership across BT to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and business objectives.

What you'll be doing
  • Establish and lead a Centre of Excellence for External Regulatory Reporting, setting the gold standard for compliance operations within a FTSE100 environment.
  • Act as a visionary leader, shaping a sustainable, forward-thinking compliance function that sets industry trends.
  • Develop and deliver the technology strategy for LRACCS compliance, including the integration of data analytics, AI, and speech technologies.
  • Monitor regulatory and industry trends, using insights to inform strategic direction and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Oversee governance and controls, ensuring BT meets its regulatory obligations through robust frameworks and processes.
  • Provide expert governance advice, particularly in relation to the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR).
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and report on the compliance health of the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain management information (MI) systems, leveraging group capabilities to collect, analyse, and report compliance data.
  • Lead the design and delivery of bespoke compliance training tailored to the needs of the consumer business.
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes, updating internal policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Create and deliver compliance education programmes to enhance employee understanding of ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage multiple high-impact projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Demonstrate expertise across multiple regulatory regimes, applying this knowledge to strengthen compliance frameworks.
  • Ensure high accuracy in compliance gap analysis, process documentation, and risk identification.
  • Act as a change agent, driving the identification and execution of regulatory change initiatives.
  • Communicate compliance insights effectively, using data storytelling and analytics to influence business decisions.
  • Apply strong business acumen, understanding strategic drivers, financial metrics, and people performance levers.
  • Leverage internal and external networks, promoting collaboration and best practices from across the industry.

Experience
  • Proven track record managing multiple high-impact projects in regulated environments
  • Deep knowledge of multiple regulatory regimes and their practical application
  • Experience leading regulatory change initiatives and acting as a change agent
  • Direct involvement with the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead Centres of Excellence or strategic compliance functions
  • Experience working in complex, matrixed organisations with senior stakeholders
  • Background in developing and maintaining MI systems for compliance reporting
  • Hands-on experience applying external best practices to internal compliance frameworks
  • History of partnering with business units to embed compliance into operations
  • Experience in delivering tailored compliance education and capability-building programmes
