Job Description

Key Stage 1 Teacher (Full-Time, 1-Year Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Mansfield

Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher to join a friendly and supportive team at a Primary school in Mansfield. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for one year, offering an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and early career teachers (ECTs).

About the Role:

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning within Key Stage 1, ensuring all pupils are supported to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong classroom practice, a commitment to inclusive education, and the ability to inspire young learners. A strong understanding of phonics and experience in delivering a recognised phonics scheme is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Deliver high-quality, systematic phonics teaching and interventions to support early reading development
  • Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, particularly in phonics and early literacy
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (preferred but not essential for ECTs)
  • A strong understanding of phonics schemes and proven ability to teach early reading effectively
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and a positive attitude
