- We understand ECT pressures. We have been placing early career teachers in Brighton and Hove schools since 2007.
- One consultant - not a call centre. You speak to the same person every time. If anything feels wrong about a placement, you have a direct number for someone who knows your name, your situation, and your schools.
- Careful school matching. We do not send early career teachers to schools where they will struggle. We know these schools from the inside and we match you to environments where you will thrive.
- Regular placements in the same schools. Many of our ECTs build relationships with two or three schools across Brighton that they return to regularly - you become a known and trusted face, not a stranger every Monday.
- Free CPD - Safeguarding and Prevent included. All registered teachers receive CPD-certified Safeguarding and Child Protection in Schools training and Prevent training, both required for your ECT Standards. We provide them free of charge.
- No finder's fees, ever. If a school offers you a permanent or induction post after working with them through us, we will never charge you or the school a penny. We want you to find the right role, even if that means you move on from supply.
- Available when you need us. Phone, WhatsApp, and email, including early mornings and weekends, because supply bookings do not run to office hours.
No. Supply teaching does not count towards your statutory two-year ECT induction. Your induction must be completed in a substantive post in a state-funded school. Supply teaching runs alongside your induction and does not delay or interrupt it in any way.
Can I do supply teaching on days I am not in my induction school?Yes. If your induction post is part-time or you have days not committed to your induction school, you can work as a supply teacher on those days. Many Early Career Teachers in Brighton do exactly this. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
How much will I earn as an ECT doing supply in Brighton?Sussex Teachers pays £110 per day for ECTs. Pay is processed weekly via PAYE. After 12 weeks in the same school, Agency Workers Regulations apply and your pay aligns with the school's own pay scales, which is often higher than our standard daily rate.
Will I be placed in schools that are suitable for an ECT?Yes. We match early career teachers carefully to schools where you will be welcomed and well-supported. We have placed ECTs in Brighton and Hove schools since 2007 and we know which schools are good environments for new teachers. We discuss every placement with you before confirming it.
How quickly can I register and start working? Most teachers are registered and ready to work within two to three weeks of first contact. The process involves an introductory call, DBS check, two references, right to work documentation, and free Safeguarding training - all of which we guide you through step by step.
