The Pride In Place (PIP) Programme is a 10-year community-led programme, investing up to £2million a year in nine Birmingham neighbourhoods to help build stronger communities, thriving places, and enable communities to take control. An opportunity within the Neighbourhoods (City Operations) division has arisen to support PIP areas. Four Pride In Place Area Leads are needed to work with MPs, Independent Chairs and Neighbourhood Boards, manage funding at the start of the Programme, and assist community-led delivery and decision-making through the Neighbourhood Board and Pride In Place Plan.
What you'll doEach PIP Area Lead will work with at least two PIP areas, becoming the Council's key contact for each area, building positive working relationships with the Chair and Neighbourhood Board, ensuring the effective function of the latter (for example, through secretariat or promotional support), maintaining oversight of eligible financial spend and future forecasts, and supporting community engagement efforts as led by the Board. Over time it is expected that Neighbourhoods Boards will become entities in their own right; until then, the Council is the accountable body for PIP funding and PIP Area Leads are a key part of ensuring eligible and transparent spend. You will be part of a wider cross directorate PIP programme team, exploring opportunities of scale across other PIP areas with colleagues, developing learning on how PIP models could be applied elsewhere across the city, and being at the forefront of major, place based regeneration and engagement efforts.
