Pre-Construction Manager Vacancy

Reporting into the Framework Manager, this role will primarily be tasked with leading tender bids on the South West Water Framework, taking responsibility for projects from inception to contract award.

More About It

The Pre-Construction Manager will work closely within the AMP8 client partnership to establish, lead, and deliver the preconstruction programme, ensuring the efficient and prompt delivery of the clean water programme across the Devon & Cornwall region.

You'll be integral to shaping the programme, establishing budgets, and identifying opportunities to optimise project delivery.

Projects vary in size and complexity but typically involve a high degree of traditional civils with some mechanical and electrical works, ranging from £250k to over £10m.

Overview of Duties

You will join the business at an exciting time as they assemble the delivery team. Your duties will include:

  1. Identify the programme and batch efficiencies.
  2. Arrange the programme for efficient delivery, considering standardisation and repeatable solutions.
  3. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to secure support and commitment.
  4. Establish key commitment dates and plan to achieve them.
  5. Manage the delivery process, including governance stages and requirements.
  6. Coordinate internal operational, commercial/estimating, and design requirements to support pre-construction.
  7. Manage supply chain support during pre-construction, including programme and procurement timelines.
  8. Coordinate wider business support for cost and information gathering.
  9. Develop a cost and information library to support future opportunities.

What we will need from you

Ideally, you will have at least 5 years of experience in a Pre-Construction or Bid role. Additional preferred qualifications and skills include:

  • Experience working for a Major Contractor and/or Water Framework projects.
  • Civil Engineering qualification (Degree or NVQ).
  • Excellent communication skills and a personable approach.
  • The ability to think quickly and adapt to situations.
