Position: PRE-CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER - ENVIRONMENT
Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, UK
What you will be doing:We are seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer to join Galliford Try within our Environment Business. Ideally based in or near Mansfield, with opportunities to travel across multiple sites/projects in the region.
- Assist with interface management between pre-construction, design, commercial, matrix, and delivery functions to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Develop relationships, systems, and processes for effective coordination across all stakeholders to ensure cost-effective and efficient planning of Civil and MEICA elements.
- Engage in the pre-contract award phase, providing operational input for delivery planning, program, and constructability.
- Support seamless transition from pre-construction to operational teams post-contract award.
- Manage detailed design and procurement phases, aiming for client approval and maximizing savings.
- Ensure quality of design deliverables aligns with program requirements, proactively managing their timely delivery.
- Coordinate advanced site activities to support design and delivery planning.
- Implement change control systems to manage project changes swiftly and effectively.
- Maximize procurement opportunities by developing strategic buying plans and preparing enquiry packages in advance.
- Participate in client framework supplier selection and challenge constraints.
- Develop project delivery plans and procurement schedules, considering buildability and temporary works.
- Maintain effective civil and MEICA technical interfaces with the client.
- Coordinate and optimize technical solutions, ensuring compliance and quality.
- Engage with supply chain to ensure accurate scope and robust quotations.
- Involve key functions early in the design process to ensure robust solutions and delivery plans.
- Collaborate with commissioning and asset teams during design to develop strategies.
- Report on civil and MEICA delivery performance, forecasting, and issues.
- Focus on client and customer satisfaction at all times.
- Adhere to quality, safety, and environmental policies and targets.
- Promote a safe working environment and project delivery excellence.
- Share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
- Proactive and committed to project delivery.
- Strong management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Client-focused with the ability to motivate others.
- Proven technical ability with good commercial awareness.
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chains.
- Negotiation skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in computer and IT skills.
- Minimum HND/HNC in engineering; BEng/MEng preferred.
- Background in water/wastewater projects or similar.
- Professional qualification preferred.
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent.
