Job Description
Overview of Role 
The Powerplant Manager oversees the technical and operational management of engines and APUs for the Loganair fleet. This includes troubleshooting, shop visit planning and coordination, configuration control, and supporting financial and operational processes to ensure cost efficiency and fleet reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Support Loganair MCC and MROs in on-wing troubleshooting for engines and APUs by issuing detailed work instructions and reviewing findings
- Assist the Fleet Acquisition department with aircraft and engine lease processes
- Support the Finance department and Head of Commercial by forecasting engine and APU shop visits and costs
- Lead the technical relationships with Engine and APU OEMs
- Attend and/or delegate to the powerplant team, the attendance of Engine Operator Conferences and cultural technical relationships with other operators
- Contribute to aircraft and engine end-of-lease processes
- Plan and coordinate engine shop visits with the Planning team and OEM
- Provide timely engine and APU removal data to OEMs and shops
- Review and approve engine and APU shop visit workscopes, accomplish scrap reviews and detailed invoice approval
- Review borescope inspection reports/photos/videos to assess damage and apply appropriate re-inspection intervalsli>
- Monitor and manage engine and APU maintenance requirements (e.g., ADs, SBs, LLPs, AMP) and configuration control
- Participate in powerplant and APU-related tenders and negotiations. This includes benchmarking of industry standard OEM agreements - to ensure Loganair has the best possible agreement to suit the business.
- Collaborate with HME, MCC, Planning, and Technical Supply teams
- Manage maintenance reserves and related administrative tasks
- Participate in periodic reviews of the reliability program
- Monitor engine and APU health, issuing work instructions to address issues highlighted by OEMs
- Lead, facilitate and co-ordinate Insurance related cases and claims pertaining to the engines
- Support the professional development of the engineering department team members
- Expert knowledge of PW127, RR AE3007, and PT6A (-27 / -34) engines, including on-wing troubleshooting and off-wing shop visit management
- Strong expertise in APU systems, maintenance requirements, and reliability management
- Proven ability to plan, scope, and coordinate engine and APU shop visits with OEMs, MROs, and internal planning teams
- In-depth understanding of engine off-wing maintenance contracts, LLP management, and maintenance reserve structures
- Solid knowledge of EASA regulations, Part-CAMO requirements, ADs, SBs, AMP, and configuration control
- Strong engine health monitoring and reliability analysis capability, including borescope assessment and OEM program review
- Effective financial and commercial skills, including cost forecasting, invoice validation, and end-of-lease condition management
- Experience in aircraft and engine leasing, acquisitions, and end-of-lease technical processes
- Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation skills with OEMs, lessors, and MRO providers
- Strong project management and organisational skills, managing multiple concurrent powerplant events
- Proven leadership and people development skills within engineering teams
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills for technical instruction and senior management engagement
- Authoritative technical leader with strong judgement and a safety-first mindset, able to make sound decisions under operational pressure
- Commercially aware and results-driven, balancing engine reliability, cost control, and contractual obligations
- Proactive problem solver, anticipating powerplant and APU issues to minimise operational disruption
- Clear and influential communicator, translating complex technical matters into effective actions across technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical subject. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Licence, PMP) is preferred.
- Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience as an airline powerplant engineer, including on-wing troubleshooting and off-wing shop visit management.
