Power & Lighting Engineer

Lead power and lighting design on nationally significant infrastructure projects.

Our Client has a requirement for aPrincipalPower & Lighting Engineer, who will be required to work on acontract basis in any of their key offices in Birmingham, London, Manchester, or Leeds (hybrid working available).

Role Purpose:

• Provide technical leadership on electrical and lighting design for major infrastructure works
• Deliver high-quality designs from feasibility through to construction support
• Ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations, standards, and best practice

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Act as technical lead within multidisciplinary design teams
• Produce electrical and lighting designs for feasibility, optioneering, planning and detailed design stages
• Undertake site surveys (day and night) to inform design development
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and contract documentation
• Support environmental, economic, and business case assessments with technical inputs
• Manage programme activities and monitor design costs
• Liaise with clients, utility providers, contractors, and internal stakeholders
• Contribute to sustainable infrastructure solutions, including EV charging and lighting systems

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Strong experience working to British electrical and lighting standards (BS5489, BS EN 13201, BS7671)
• Experience of lighting and electrical design for road and transport environments
• Proficient in lighting and electrical design software (Lighting Reality, DIALux, Amtech)
• Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
