Overview

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Ding group at the John Innes Centre to study the chromatin associated co transcriptional RNA folding in plants.

Responsibilities and Activities

• RNA structure profiling, data analysis and study of chromatin mediated gene regulation (60%)
• Prepare results, reports and manuscripts for publication in leading scientific journals (5%)
• Collaborate within the Institute to develop original research and contribute to research proposals and grant applications (5%)
• Supervise visitors to the laboratory, assist with training and support scientific excellence (5%)
• Present research findings at internal, national and international meetings (5%)
• Liaise with industry and external stakeholders (5%)
• Ensure good practice, scientific integrity and compliance with policies and regulations (5%)
• Seek excellence and pursue learning and development opportunities (5%)
• Other duties as agreed with line manager (5%)

Qualifications

• PhD (full award or expected within 6 months) or equivalent in biology, genetics, bioinformatics or computer science (essential)
• BSc or equivalent in related fields (essential)
• Experience in RNA biology, chromatin mediated gene regulation (essential)
• Proven record in scientific writing and grant proposal preparation (essential)
• Experience of oral research presentations (essential)
• Experience supervising, training and mentoring visitors and students (desirable)
