Postdoctoral Research Associate (Finland focused), Grade 6, Loughborough University. Location: Loughborough, Hybrid. Salary: £35,608 to £46,049 per annum. Contract: 42 months, full-time, fixed term, starting 1 September 2026. Application closing date: 17 May 2026.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will design, execute and disseminate the project "Geographies of example: Finding the example within the exception and beyond (GeoEx)" funded by a Leverhulme Trust Research Leadership Award. Tasks include ethnographic research in Finland and short field trips to the UK and Bangladesh, conducting and analysing semi structured interviews with protection seekers and other marginalised communities, and contributing to the project's overall delivery.

Qualifications
  • PhD in Geography, Sociology, Politics, Anthropology or a cognate discipline.
  • Excellent English language skills; proficiency in other relevant languages is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in conducting and analysing semi structured interviews with protection seekers or marginalised communities.
