Title of Post: Post Doctoral Researcher (Level 1) in Life Cycle Asset Management

JOB SYNOPSIS

This 3-year Post Doctoral Researcher position is part of the SEAI-funded project Enhancing Compliance and Operation of Assets for Strategic, Sustainable Environmental Transformation (ECO-ASSET). The project will develop a novel decision-support platform for life-cycle sustainability assessment in the built environment, supporting policy-aligned decision-making across energy, carbon and cost metrics. The researcher will be based within the Civil Engineering discipline at the University of Limerick (UL) while working closely with collaborators at the University of Galway (UoG) and a strong network of industry and policy stakeholders.

• A doctoral degree (Level 10NFQ) in civil engineering, construction management, sustainability, energy systems, or a closely related discipline.
• A record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Demonstrated experience in life-cycle assessment (LCA), sustainability analysis, or related methodologies.
• Knowledge of Irish/EU sustainability policy.
• Experience in research project delivery (e.g. publications, reports, or applied research outputs)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

Specific Requirements

• Experience working with built environment data, asset management, or digital tools (e.g. BIM, databases, analytics platforms)
• Experience in stakeholder engagement or industry collaboration.
• Experience in software product development (agile, UX, etc.)
• Familiarity with data-driven or software-supported decision-making tools (python or LCA frameworks)
• Experience supervising or mentoring students or junior researchers.
