This school is set in Portsmouth and is an all through school for vulnerable students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. There are currently roles available for both the Primary and Secondary sides of the school, so there is some flexibility on the age ranges you could work with!
This school strives to give their pupils a fresh approach to learning in their alternative provision setting. They encourage pupils to continue their educational progress both within the time they are there and when they are ready to move on to other schools and establishments.
This provision recognises the need to address both the social and emotional needs of their pupils alongside and in conjunction with their educational needs.
Applications for the position are welcome from candidates of ranging experience, and training will be provided, although previous experience working with students with SEMH, particularly attachment and trauma is preferable. Experience working with children with challenging behaviour is important and a strong sense of behaviour management is key.
Your Role- Supporting a range of vulnerable children ranging from Reception to KS4
- Be able to appropriately calm children down and de escalate
- Be able to effectively behaviour manage
- Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption
- Providing feedback to teachers and parents
- Be available - Full or Part time - 8.15am - 3.30pm
- Outgoing and mentoring manner
- Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their full potential
- You will be expected to think on your feet and be proactive, no day is the same in a Special School, so being prepared is vital.
- Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
- We pay all our staff in line with the Agency Worker Regulations, meaning your pay will be equal to that of a permanent employee

- You will be invited to our wide range of continued professional development (CPD) training sessions, provided by our in house team of experienced senior leaders. These are completely free to attend!
