Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity?This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a PIP1 qualified and experienced Police Staff Investigator (PSI) seeking a new and rewarding challenge within specialist safeguarding. The successful applicant will join the Child Exploitation Team, which is responsible for managing children at the highest risk of harm, including:
- Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE)
- Unaccompanied asylum seeking children
The team works in a complex, high-risk environment, delivering trauma informed approach and safeguarding responses in close partnership with statutory and third sector agencies.

About the roleWorking within the Child Exploitation Team (CET) you will:
- Case manage a cohort of vulnerable children identified as being at high risk of exploitation
- Conduct child focused visits and engagement activity, recognising that building rapport, trust and professional curiosity is essential
- Support investigations into offences linked to child exploitation, contributing to evidential development and victim centred outcomes
- Conduct enquiries to identify perpetrators and arrange / facilitate disruption opportunities
- Work closely with partner agencies including Children's Services, Health, Education, Youth Justice and the voluntary sector
- Attend and meaningfully contribute to multi agency meetings, strategy discussions and safeguarding forums
You will be a motivated and resilient Police Staff Investigator with:
- Experience of investigative work and case management
- A sound understanding of safeguarding principles, particularly in relation to children and vulnerable young people
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage empathetically and professionally with children, families and partner agencies
- Confidence in attending multi agency meetings and contributing
- An understanding of exploitation, trauma and contextual safeguarding (or a willingness to develop this knowledge)
Experience of working within child protection, exploitation, missing persons or multi agency safeguarding environments would be highly desirable but is not essential.
