Job overview Podiatrist: Permanent (37.5 hours) The post holder will provide an efficient, effective, and consistently high-quality podiatry service to patients registered with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

hey will assess, plan, and deliver individualised care programmes for patients with a wide range of clinical needs, including acute and chronic neuropathies, long-term conditions, vascular complications, and wound management. The role involves managing a defined caseload, including the provision of specialist podiatric care for patients with diabetes, rheumatological conditions, and biomechanical issues. The post holder will be responsible for organising and prioritising their own workload, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Newly qualified podiatrists will be supported through a structured preceptorship period of supervision and mentoring during their first 12 months in post.

• To assess and provide podiatric care for patients with a range of clinical needs, including neuropathy, chronic disease, vascular conditions and wound management, working within agreed care plans and seeking guidance where appropriate.
• To contribute to the development and implementation of individualised care programmes, supporting the management of patients with diabetes and other at-risk foot conditions.
• To manage and prioritise a defined caseload, working with increasing autonomy while accessing support from senior colleagues as required.
• To deliver a safe, effective and high-quality podiatry service across community and clinic settings, in line with local policies and professional standards.
• To support the day-to-day running of clinical sessions, maintaining standards of quality, infection prevention and control, and health and safety. This includes preparing clinical areas, maintaining stock levels, ensuring equipment is safe to use, and escalating issues to senior staff as appropriate.
• To participate in the preceptorship period during the first 12 months of practice.

Person specification

• BSc (Hons) in Podiatry or Diploma in Podiatric Medicine (if qualification obtained prior to 1993) Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Certificate in Local Anaesthesia
• Membership of the relevant professional body (e.g. the Royal College of Podiatry).

work related circumstances

• Ability to work flexibly as a member of the multidisciplinary and podiatry team to meet service needs, including service delivery across seven days where required.
• Ability to undertake the physical demands of the role, including manual handling activities such as lifting and carrying clinical equipment, domiciliary case bags, patient records and presentation materials
• Ability to work in confined environments during domiciliary visits.
• Ability to travel independently to various locations across Tameside and Glossop community.

Knowledge

• Professional knowledge developed through formal degree training at University
• Current knowledge and competence in Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR, including the administration of adrenaline in line with local policy
