Role Overview

The Platform Design Lead will collaborate across disciplines to enhance the scalability, usability, and consistency of ClearScore's design system, internal tools, and documentation. Reporting to the Director of Platform Design, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of design at ClearScore while mentoring others and supporting cross-functional success.

This hands-on role sits at the heart of our Platform mission. You'll lead the design system that underpins all ClearScore features across iOS, Android, web, and internal platforms. You'll also guide content model development for our headless CMS and contribute to the design of internal tools. The role is based in either London or Edinburgh with flexibility in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, develop and mature the Design System
    • Own the evolution, maintenance, and governance of ClearScore's design system to ensure scalable, reusable, and accessible design components.
    • Create robust design libraries, empowering the design team to deliver high quality, consistent experiences across platforms.
    • Work intensely with full-stack teams to build scalable solutions and ensure components are built to spec and efficiently integrated across platforms.
  • Embed and champion system use across teams
    • Be the go-to advocate for implementing and scaling the design system across products and missions.
    • Mentor product designers and front-end engineers on best practices, contribution workflows, and component governance.
    • Run knowledge-sharing sessions, create documentation and contribute to onboarding colleagues.
  • Enhance internal tools and processes
    • Partner with product, design, and engineering to improve tools (e.g. design tokens pipelines, CMS authoring interfaces) and workflows to accelerate delivery.
    • Contribute to our headless CMS strategy, particularly around content model design and scalability.
    • Strategise with senior leaders as we evolve internal tools and technologies.
  • Drive strategic alignment
    • Partner with senior leaders on the Platform vision and ensure the design system supports business goals, user needs, and technical scalability - globally and across verticals.
    • Align design system evolution with emerging platform architecture (e.g. SDUI, token pipelines)

About You

We're looking for a skilled and experienced professional with the following:

  • Proven experience building and governing multi-brand, multi-platform (iOS, Android, web) design systems.
  • Able to audit, refactor, and componentise legacy UI for reuse across products and platforms.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing intuitive, responsive, accessible, and scalable interfaces.
  • Expert-level Figma skills, especially with Tokens Studio and component architecture.
  • Leading within a strong cross-functional Platform team is a bonus.
  • Technical Skills
    • Comfortable working with front-end frameworks and tooling: GitHub, JSON, TypeScript, Swift, Kotlin.
    • Familiarity with SDUI architectures and how design tokens and UI components map to server-driven schemas.
    • Experience contributing to or owning a headless CMS content model is a strong plus.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Confident leading cross-functional design initiatives and mentoring colleagues.
    • Skilled at planning, prioritising, and scoping system and tooling work - including collaboration with engineers and PMs.
    • Able to clearly present rationale, align stakeholders, and influence decision-making across disciplines.
  • Strategic Thinking
    • Strategic mindset and ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term system health.
    • Proactive in identifying industry trends, competitor activities, emerging technologies, and opportunities for design system evolution and innovation.
