An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Specialist (Retail Focus) to join a growing and forward thinking planning consultancy with offices across the UK.

This role is ideal for a planner with a strong background in retail led development, looking to work on a varied portfolio of projects while contributing to the continued growth of a dynamic and ambitious team.

The Role

You will play a key role in delivering planning advice and managing projects across a range of retail and town centre developments, working closely with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing retail focused planning applications from inception to determination
• Providing strategic planning advice to clients across the retail sector
• Preparing high quality planning statements, reports and supporting documents
• Advising on town centre uses, retail policy, and sequential / impact assessments
• Engaging with local planning authorities, stakeholders and consultants
• Supporting business development and building client relationships
• Contributing to wider project teams on mixed use and regeneration schemes

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working on retail planning projects within consultancy or local authority
• A strong understanding of town centre and retail planning policy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage projects independently and work collaboratively
• A proactive and commercially aware approach

Ideally, you will also be:

• MRTPI Chartered or working towards Chartership
• Experienced in preparing or advising on retail impact assessments and planning strategy
