Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on planning law matters to clients, including local authorities, developers, and landowners.
• Draft and review planning applications, appeals, and related documents, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on planning regulations and policies, staying updated on changes in the law.
• Represent clients in planning inquiries and hearings, presenting compelling arguments and evidence.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to develop strategies for securing planning permissions and addressing challenges.
• Contribute to business development initiatives, including preparing proposals and participating in client presentations.
• Mentor junior associates and interns, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within the team.
• Participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences to enhance visibility and knowledge in the planning field.

Qualifications

• A qualified associate with experience in planning law.
• Strong understanding of UK planning legislation and procedures, with experience in contentious and non contentious matters.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
• A proactive, solution oriented approach, demonstrating initiative and creativity in problem solving.
