About the Team

Amey is working in partnership with the Department for Infrastructure Roads Asset Management and Water Delivery Directorate, working on minor road scheme improvements, flood alleviation schemes and active travel schemes. We support design and delivery with environmental expertise, with an increased focus on supporting the creation of sustainable futures for communities, together we will achieve net zero targets and improve the customer experience. We also work in conjunction with Translink on the Northern Ireland rail network, supporting the environmental processes on maintenance schemes. The environment and sustainability team in Amey is nation wide, with the team in Belfast supporting our contracts for Transport Scotland and National Highways in England.

What you'll be doing

Our 52 week placements are designed for students currently pursuing a degree and seeking practical work experience. During your placement:

  • Assist in providing support to a team of Environmental Consultants in Belfast and across the wider UK team, including collating baseline environmental data for particular schemes and projects through consultation, review of published information on the web and GIS databases, gathering site information such as Phase I habitat surveys, water constraint mapping, general site walkovers; assist in producing reports or early determination of environmental constraints and undertake environment impact reporting.
  • Gain hands on experience supporting the environmental assessment and monitoring of infrastructure schemes at pre and post planning stage.
  • Benefit from mentorship by industry experts, learning from some of the best minds in the field.

You'll have a dedicated 'buddy' and mentor to guide you, helping you settle into your role and develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
