Construction Piping Superintendent
Location: Rotterdam-Botlek, Netherlands
Duration: 12 months (initial contract)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 hours per day (occasional weekend work may be requested)
Overview
We are currently recruiting a highly experienced Construction Piping Superintendent for the Hyco4 Project located in Rotterdam-Botlek. The role is a field-based supervisory position with key responsibilities in overseeing piping construction activities, driving safety performance, and ensuring the project progresses according to schedule and quality standards.
This position is best suited for professionals with strong leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of petrochemical construction environments, and fluency in both English and Dutch.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise piping construction works, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Actively promote and lead field-level implementation of the Basic Safety Process (BSP), including safety audits, toolbox talks, and visible leadership.
- Collaborate closely with the project's Quality Department to implement and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Provide daily discipline-specific reports including metrics on safety, quality, contractor resources, equipment, performance, and schedule impact.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure full compliance with project standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in onboarding and ongoing Learnex training as per client requirements.
Mandatory Requirements
- Proven experience in piping construction supervision within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sector, preferably in the Rotterdam/Botlek region.
- Fluent in both English and Dutch.
- Valid VCA-VOL certification.
- Strong commitment to safety, with demonstrated leadership in safe work practices.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Additional certifications such as First Aid, Fire Safety, or similar construction-related credentials.
Contractual Terms and Conditions
Compensation:
- Daily rate is all-inclusive, covering all personal and project-related expenses unless otherwise agreed.
- A 5% assignment completion bonus (based on the daily rate and actual days worked) will be paid upon successful completion of the contract.
- Bonus is forfeited if the worker voluntarily ends the assignment early.
- If the client ends the contract prematurely and the worker is not at fault, the bonus accrued will be paid.
- Future extensions will be considered new contracts with a new bonus cycle.
Working Hours:
- Standard working hours are 9 hours/day, Monday to Friday.
- Overtime and weekend work must be pre-approved and is fully compensated.
- Remote work is only permitted with prior written approval from the Site Manager.
Additional Conditions:
- Selected candidates must sign off on the final job description before commencement.
- Employment is subject to the provision of two suitable references.
- Notice period is four weeks.
