The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Specialty Doctor (SAS) in General Internal Medicine to provide Gastroenterology ward cover in the North West.

This locum opportunity offers a structured Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00 work pattern within a busy acute hospital environment. The role is ideally suited to doctors with experience in General Internal Medicine, who are confident managing inpatient workloads and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

You will be joining an established Acute Services team, supporting the delivery of safe, effective care for patients within Gastroenterology and General Medicine services.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver high-quality patient care within a General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology ward setting.
• Manage inpatient workloads, including assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing patient reviews.
• Support the day-to-day delivery of acute medical services.
• Work closely with consultants, nursing teams, allied health professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with Trust and NHS standards.
• Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and contribute to patient safety initiatives.
• Support efficient patient flow and continuity of care across the service.
• Adhere to local policies, clinical governance requirements, and best practice guidelines.

What We're Looking For

• Active GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Recent UK NHS experience within General Internal Medicine.
• Previous experience working at Specialty Doctor (SAS) level or equivalent.
• Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and teamworking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an established multidisciplinary team.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
• Mandatory DCS training must be completed prior to commencing work at the Trust.
