Job Description

Bishop's Stortford Swimming Club in Hertfordshire is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Performance Swim Coach to lead our Junior Performance Squad and contribute to the continued success of our competitive swimming programme. If the right candidate applies, immediate hire will be made. This is an exciting opportunity to work with talented young swimmers aged 10-12 years, supporting their development as they progress through county and regional level competition and prepare for future performance pathways within the club.

Bishop's Stortford Swimming Club is a successful and ambitious competitive swimming club with a strong reputation for developing swimmers from grassroots participation through to county, regional and national competition. We are committed to providing high quality coaching, a positive training environment and a clear pathway for swimmers to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will join a dedicated coaching team and play an important role in the development of our next generation of performance swimmers.

Coaching Role
  • Lead and coach the club's Junior Performance Squad, comprising swimmers aged 10-12 years competing at county and regional level.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging and progressive training sessions that support long-term athlete development.
  • Monitor swimmer progress and provide constructive feedback to swimmers and parents.
  • Work closely with the Head Coach and wider coaching team to ensure alignment across the club's competitive pathway.
  • Attend competitions as required and provide poolside coaching support.
  • Support the development of a positive, challenging and enjoyable training environment.
  • Uphold and promote the values, standards and culture of Bishop's Stortford Swimming Club.
  • Collaborate with fellow coaches to support swimmer transitions through the club's pathway.

Qualifications Required
  • Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (or ASA Level 2 Award in Coaching Swimming) as a minimum.
  • Experience coaching competitive swimmers at county and/or regional level.
  • Current Swim England Safeguarding qualification, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current DBS clearance, or willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
  • Current First Aid qualification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Current NRASTC (National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches) qualification, or willingness to achieve this within an agreed timeframe.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Ability to travel to training venues and competitions as required.

Hours and Contract Type

Part-time position.

  • Minimum commitment of 7.5 hours per week coaching the Junior Performance Squad.
  • Additional paid hours may be available through supporting other areas of the club, including development squads, competition attendance and other coaching requirements.
  • Hours will include evenings, weekends and competition attendance as required.
Salary

Salary will be dependent on experience, qualifications and responsibilities.
