Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate team to create inclusive pathways and support individuals with impairments to achieve their ambition in sport, whether that be to be physically active or to reach the highest level.

We are looking for dedicated individuals who will help develop resilient, inclusive pathways that empower athletes at every level. You'll play a key role in delivering world class performance development programmes that feed Welsh and GB pathways, contribute to a world leading para athlete development programme, and showcase successful inclusive approaches regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Job Details

Location: Hybrid with access to DSW Offices in Cardiff and Deeside

Hours: 35 hours per week (full time)

Contract: Permanent

Travel: Required within Wales and the UK, with some international travel where required.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver world class performance development programmes that feed Welsh and GB pathways.
  • Contribute to a world leading para athlete development programme.
  • Showcase inclusive approaches regionally, nationally and internationally.
  • Co create inclusive opportunities that support wellbeing and empower athletes at all levels.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working within different elements of the physical activity/sport pathway, particularly within performance development.
  • Lived experience of disability or significant experience working within disability sport or para sport environments.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with National Governing Bodies, clubs, institutes, education providers or community organisations.
  • Experience of planning, coordinating or delivering projects or programmes within sport, performance sport or inclusion settings.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the para sport landscape, including talent identification, athlete development and performance pathways.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to collaborative working and continuous learning.
  • Highly organised with an ability to work to short timescales.
  • Critical thinking about monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Ability to provide some flexibility of working hours.
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in a sport, leisure or physical education based subject and/or equivalent work based experience.
  • Experience of Paralympic, Commonwealth Games, Virtus, Special Olympics and Deaflympics sport.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of robust safeguarding and anti doping processes.
  • Competence in Welsh language and/or BSL.
  • Fully committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • A team player willing to take a significant leadership role for the area, with a proactive, considered and person focused approach.
