Job Description 3-month contract role with a local authority Summary
  • This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority, focused on providing high-quality, business-focused HR advice and support across all employee relations matters. The position is crucial for aligning HR practices with policies, employment law, and best practices. It plays a significant role in driving organizational culture, embedding values, and supporting managers in building high-performing, engaged teams. Additionally, the role contributes to organizational development initiatives by using data and insights to enhance performance, efficiency, and workforce capability.
Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, attendance, performance, and capability.
  • Ensure HR practices align with employment legislation, internal policies, and best practices.
  • Support managers in developing confidence and capability in managing people matters effectively.
  • Assist in the development and embedding of organizational values and culture.
  • Design and deliver learning and development initiatives to enhance leadership capability and workforce skills.
  • Contribute to key people strategy areas, including engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, and leadership development.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in an HR advisory or business partnering role.
  • Strong experience managing employee relations cases such as disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR policies or frameworks.
  • Experience working with and influencing trade unions or key stakeholders.
  • Experience using data and insights to inform decision-making and drive improvements.
Essential Qualifications
  • Associate CIPD membership or working towards.
Additional Information
  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Contract duration: 3 months with a possible extension.
