Posted 23 hours 20 minutes ago by Cheshire East Council
"Be part of the future of bus travel."
In this role, you'll be joining Cheshire East Council at one of the most exciting moments in our transport transformation. We're expanding Go-too - our modern, flexible, technology led Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service - across the entire borough, creating a new way for residents to travel. DRT is the future of bus travel: smarter and designed around the real journeys people need to make.
Go-too has already proven successful through its pilot in the Nantwich and rural area and is now growing into a borough wide service, bringing together our local transport offers into a single, modern, inclusive bus service. Go-too will support passengers of all ages - from children and young people to older residents - and play an important role in supporting the wider bus and rail network across Cheshire East. Go-too is designed to complement existing commercial and supported routes by helping residents connect with the wider public transport system, not replace it.
We welcome both qualified drivers and those without a CPC or PCV licence, as full fast track, paid training will be provided. Whether you're an experienced driver seeking a fresh challenge or someone looking to start a rewarding new chapter, this role offers stability, purpose and real community impact. You will also act as a Passenger Assistant as and when required, supporting SEND children and ensuring they travel to school safely and comfortably.
About you- Professional Driving Qualification CPC (D) (PCV), or willingness to undertake paid fast track CPC and/or PCV training (this will be provided free of charge).
- Ability to confidently use on board technology (tablet based route and booking system), with full training provided.
- Sat nav and map reading experience when transporting passengers of varying ages and abilities.
- Ability to meet the required medical standards for driving.
- Emergency first aid training (or willingness to undertake training).
- Driving experience of the type of vehicles within the authority's fleet.
- Alert and responsive to the needs of children, adults and older passengers.
- Working knowledge of the Highway Code and relevant passenger transport legislation.
- Ability to converse at ease with vulnerable passengers, including those with communication difficulties or complex needs.
- Ability to work a rolling shift pattern including early, day, late and Saturday shifts.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the borough.
- A positive, can do attitude with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
