Job Description
Role Overview 
We're looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team and play a key role in delivering an accurate, efficient and customer focused payroll service. This is a great opportunity for someone with payroll experience who is keen to build their knowledge, develop their skills, and contribute to continuous improvement within a busy payroll function.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately process payroll data each pay period in line with statutory requirements and internal deadlines.
- Support the end to end payroll process, including onboarding new starters and processing leavers.
- Input and maintain payroll data, including payments, deductions, absences and adjustments.
- Assist with HMRC submissions and retrievals.
- Prepare and upload BACS payment files.
- Issue payslips, P60s and P11Ds via ESS, mobile app or post.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and support audit activities.
- Maintain accurate payroll schedules and employee records.
- Manage payroll inbox queries and respond in a timely and professional manner.
- Support process improvements, system testing, and quality checks.
- Collaborate with the wider payroll team to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on payroll related queries.
- Take ownership of your own development, building knowledge of payroll processes and legislation.
- Relevant experience in a payroll position.
- Experience in a payroll or finance administration role.
- A good understanding of payroll processes (end to end knowledge is beneficial but not essential).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- The ability to perform payroll calculations (training can be provided).
- Experience with SAP payroll (desirable but not essential).
- Good communication skills with a collaborative approach.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and develop.
- An understanding of GDPR principles and confidentiality.
- Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Excel.
