About the role & team
To oversee and ensure accurate processing of all UK payroll related issues, ensuring that employees receive correct remuneration on the published pay dates, thereby ensuring that the Company meets its contractual obligations.
To manage the day-to-day workload of assigned payroll in accordance with set timelines to ensure accurate delivery.
To comply with all statutory and contractual obligations. Establishing internal and external stakeholder management, including the payroll provider, to ensure smooth operations at all times.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for all monthly interface files to SAP, integrating global systems accurately and efficiently. Scrutinising and validating data with precision.
- Oversee and manage end-to-end payrolls, specifically assigned, working with the UK Payroll Analyst at all times.
- Validate and approve T&A entries (TDS payroll specific).
- Check and validate all maternity cases, inclusive of specific benefits and pension requirements.
- Check and validate all tax forms and generic input.
- Mentor and guide the payroll administrator and intern, resolving all escalated payroll-related queries professionally and timely.
- Work with internal partners on specific payroll issues (problem solving).
- Identify trends or risks to payroll and introduce improved ways of working.
- Undertake input and checking of manual calculations for part-month and backdated payments during the month.
- Calculate and raise manual payments within SAP where applicable.
- Handle complex cases of overpayments for leavers, reverse and replace final month payslips for completeness.
- Analyse variance reports, providing justifications and undertaking additional controls.
- Manage General Ledger functions for payroll and ensure accurate data for Finance Stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with the Compensation and Benefits team to ensure benefits are applied correctly.
- Process Pensions according to scheme rules and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Participate in team events such as meetings and training exercises.
- Manage and coordinate shared mailboxes, keeping them updated and escalating/manage complex queries.
- Assist with payroll audits and general projects as required.
- Ensure adherence to Auto Enrolment and RTI requirements at all times.
- Participate in recruitment of Payroll interns and administrators.
- Ensure accurate processing of Enhanced Holiday Payments in line with legislative requirements.
- Maintain payroll compliance during monthly payroll processes in SAP.
- Work with Global HR Operations to ensure clean and accurate data within SAP.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- SAP knowledge is essential.
- Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation (e.g., PAYE, Court Orders, NICs, Statutory Payments, budget updates).
- Experience processing high-volume payrolls (3000+), in a comparable organisation.
- Proven experience reviewing and developing payroll procedures and policies.
- Ability to apply current legislation to payroll functions.
- Ability to identify potential risks to the company.
- Full compliance with GDPR requirements.
- Experience dealing with benefits and understanding their impact on PAYE and NICs.
- Experience with payroll reconciliations and understanding of HMRC returns.
- Ability to deputise for Payroll Manager and Analyst.
- Understanding of Auto Enrolment and RTI procedures.
