Payroll Officer - Maternity Cover (9-12 Month Contract)

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a maternity cover contract for 9-12 months. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong UK and ROI payroll experience to take ownership of a busy payroll function in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payrolls across both the Republic of Ireland and the UK, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume payrolls accurately and within strict deadlines.
• Administer payroll activities for both ROI and UK employees.
• Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Manage payroll changes including starters, leavers, salary amendments, pension deductions, and benefits.
• Maintain and manage Time & Attendance systems, ensuring accurate employee records.
• Prepare payroll reports and provide analysis using Excel.
• Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and management.
• Support internal and external audits as required.

Essential Criteria

• Around 5 years' experience in a payroll-focused role.
• Strong working knowledge of UK and Republic of Ireland payroll legislation.
• Experience using Sage Cloud Payroll (UK) and Sage Micropay (ROI).
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and manipulate payroll data.
• Experience working with Time & Attendance/Time Management systems.
• Proven ability to process high-volume payrolls accurately.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
